This week, ending 9/26/2015, we are sharing two podcast links from The Knowledge Spot and The 4 Hour Work Week.
The first and main podcast delves into the world of a professional artist; David Luong, a senior cinematic video game artist level 2 at Blizzard Entertainment. Blizzard Entertainment is a highly prestigious video game developing and publishing company, with a lot of success in the games they have published. Some of these successful games include World of Warcraft, Overwatch and the game-changing Diablo. To prove Blizzard Entertainment’s success, Diablo is still a much-loved game, despite first being published in 1997, with people still purchasing add-ons to build the runeword. Diablo’s continued success shows the legacy that Blizzard Entertainment has obtained. Luong has been extremely lucky in such a good job at a very successful company and talks about what it takes to pursue art professionally, how to learn as an artist, and how to teach as an artist and how to make money. The second podcast interviews film director, screenwriter, producer, cinematographer, editor, and musician Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Planet Terror, Kill Bill, Machete Kills, etc).

This week, ending 9/19/2015, we are sharing two awesome links filled with early Star Wars concept art.
Many artists and concept artists contribute their interest in art for movies to early works done for the original Star Wars films. This post, although short, is packed with more than enough concept art work from legendary artist Ralph McQuarrie to keep the inner child artist entertained. Enjoy these works and keep them handy for when the new film comes out. It will be nice to compare them.

This week, ending 9/05/2015, we have compiled a list of Art of books and places you can find them.
Many times we get asked by younger students and new artists where to find books that inspire our drive as concept artists and illustrators. If you ask a seasoned artist, the answer will often be books about nature, science, life, old master painters, etc. Although true, many students still find themselves puzzled and still ask the question of where to find books with concept art. Here is a list of books that can get that concept art library started.
Drive (IP)
Exodyssey (IP)
Nuthin’ But Mech (IP)
Robota (IP)
Star Trek: The Art of the Film (Film)
The Art of Avatar: James Cameron’s Epic Adventure (Film)
The Art of Halo 5: Guardians (Game)
The Art of Last of Us (Game)
The Art of Pirates of the Caribbean (Film)
The Art of Star Wars, Episode IV – A New Hope (Film)
The Art of The Lord of The Rings (Film)
The Art of Titanfall (Game)
The Art of Tron Legacy (Film)
The Art of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (The Art of the Game) (Game)
If you are wondering an alternative to buying these books, you can go to place like Barnes and Noble or Half Price Books. Event though I order most of my books from Amazon, I’ve been able to find a lot of good deals at Half Price Books.
