EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES

Whether you are starting out and need to find the right school, or are just looking to brush up on your skills, on this page you will find various ways to better yourself and your art. These are the resources that have been recommended to me by my peers or I have sought out myself, but by no means represents the entire spectrum of those available to you. While they are not presented in any particular order, I have tried to arrange them into respective groups so you can quickly find what you are looking for.

BRICK AND MORTAR SCHOOLS

While a traditional art education can be ridiculously expensive, brick-and-mortar schools are effective at preparing students for a careers in the entertainment industry. Classes are usually taught by industry professionals and can provide the proper atmosphere to succeed. Here is a list of schools that offer either a entertainment design, game art, or illustration degree.

    Singapore
    Founded by veteran concept artist Feng Zhu, this school offers intensive concept art focused courses that crams 4 years of training into just two years

ONLINE EDUCATION

Online courses and workshops can be taken in tandem with your main education and used as ways to boost your learning outside of school. They usually run for several weeks and are a great chance to learn skills that may not be taught in class. To get the most out of these classes, it is best to enroll when you can make a serious time commitment to them. Here is a list of our favorite institutions that offer quality art assistance.

ONLINE TUTORIALS AND TRAINING

Tutorial videos are a great way to quickly pickup new tips and tricks. Since artistic progress is measured in slow, steady improvements, then even if you only learn one new thing from a tutorial video, you will still be headed in the right direction.   • Gnomon-Workshop
    Offers a HUGE selection of great instructional training tutorials taught by industry professionals.
  • CDW School of Entertainment Design
    Concept Design Workshop Offers great instructional training tutorials taught by industry professionals
  • Gumroad
    Gumroad is a service that allows individual Artists to create, sell and distribute their own tutorials. It has grown immensley over the past few years. Chances are, that your favorte artist has a Gumroad page.
  • Feng Zhu Design Cinema
    Offers great comprehensive tutorials about how to draw, think, and problem solve for the games and media industry.
  • Scott Robertson Design
    Scott Robertson YouTube Channel offers great tutorials and insights about design, drawing, and rendering for concept design.
  • enlighten
    A good resource for tutorials, product reviews, and mentorships
  • CubeBrush
    CubeBrush offers free and premium tutorial videos for both beginning and advanced artists.
